MY PRAYER

Dear Heavenly Father,
I struggle in my prayers for words to worship you.
I stand in awe of the great beauty of this earth.
In Spring the dormant trees burst forth with new life.
     Flowers bloom.
Birds build nests while singing joyful songs,
and I wonder if they are anticipating their young.
ALL nature sings.
And yet my words are sparse.

I worship you
when my heart is bursting with happiness,
and when I'm in deep sorrow.
How can I say "Thank you" for your great love?

You gave us the earth on which we stand.  Thank you.
You sent your Son, Jesus Christ.  Thank you.
He loved us enough to take our sins to the cross.
And all I can say is "Thank you."

My question is --- How?
How can I show my love?
     How can I follow Jesus?
     What am I to do?

In the most Holy of Books Jesus said:
"I was hungry and thirsty but you did not bring food or water.
I was a stranger but you would not be my friend.
      I was sick,
      I was in prison,
      I was naked.
But you did not supply my needs."

I cried out to Him --- "When?"
     "I love you, Lord Jesus.
      I would feed you!
I would do Anything for you!
When did I ever turn my back on you?"

And Jesus said:
"Inasmuch as you did it not to one of the Least of these,
you did it not to me."     (Matt.25:45)

Dear Heavenly Father, forgive me.
Fill my heart with love.
Open my eyes to others' needs.
Help me to be more like Your Son, Jesus.

 Amen.
